What is Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE)?
Our engineers work inside your team, next to the people who do the work. They map how a process really runs, redesign it around AI agents and take those agents to production. Then they move to the next process, while the previous ones keep running.
How does an FDE engagement with Chaos Gears work?
A pod of 2 to 6 people works with a Domain Champion from your team. Every process goes through four steps (map and ground, build, prove and release, measure and repeat), with KPIs agreed before the build and measured after release. Then the pod picks the next process with you, and the previous ones keep running. Want several processes at once? You run several pods.
How much does it cost?
It depends on how many pods you need and for how long. Most customers start with an AI Assessment or a short discovery, then move to an ongoing engagement billed monthly. AWS funding programs can cover part of the cost - we check eligibility before you sign anything.
Which industries do you work with?
Mostly healthcare, insurance, financial services and manufacturing, plus companies with large contact centers. The industry matters less than the process itself. A good candidate has many handoffs, real data and a business owner who wants it fixed.
What is the final outcome?
AI agents running in production in your AWS account, measured against KPIs you agreed on upfront. On top of that, a knowledge base of your company that keeps growing, and people on your side who can run and change the agents. Typically that means shorter lead times, fewer handoffs and hours freed up from repetitive work.
How is FDE different from AI consulting or rolling out copilots?
Copilots make each person faster, but most of a process is waiting between people. FDE redesigns the process itself, so agents do the work in the background and people step in for the key decisions. Our engineers write production code from the first weeks.
Why do you build on AWS?
Because that's where we're experts. Chaos Gears is an AWS Premier Tier Partner with AI Services and Data Services Competencies, and most of our customers already run on AWS. The tools we pick fit it very well - Amazon Bedrock for models, Amazon Bedrock AgentCore for running agents securely, Amazon Quick for agents in your team's daily tools, and Anthropic Claude as our default model.
We don't use AWS. Can we still work with you?
Yes. Your agents can run on AWS even if the rest of your systems don't - they connect to your existing tools and data wherever those live. If you're new to AWS, we take care of the onboarding too, from account setup and landing zones to security and cost controls (our Cloud team has been doing exactly that for years).
Do you build a knowledge base or ontology as part of the engagement?
Usually yes, because it almost always pays off. Agents are only as good as what they know about your company, so together with your experts we build a shared vocabulary (an ontology) and a knowledge base with an owner per source. Every new process adds to it.
What do you need from us to start?
A sponsor who owns the outcome, a Domain Champion for about 6 hours a week, a security contact, and access to real data and real work in the first week. That last one matters THE most.
